E' un film che è sovraccarico di simboli, di dicotomie, di doppi.
Doppi ruoli, doppie personalità, doppie interpretazioni. Perché tutto è doppio. Nina vestita sempre di bianco. La sua rivale sempre di nero. La sua rivale è Lily, ma è così?. Non è ciò che sembra fino a che il dramma, incombente per tutta la pellicola, non si svela nel finale.
Il bianco, il nero, gli specchi, una miriade di specchi che rimandano a Nina immagini di sé e del suo corpo straziato da gesti di autolesionismo. Le quattro mura di casa sua, soffocanti come un vuoto d'aria. Quel talento di ballerina che aspira alla perfezione, che finisce per possederla, così come la possiede la madre, iperprotettiva, una ballerina fallita che si nutre della figlia, che la ammorba con le sue ansie, con le sue premure macchiate a tratti dal tarlo della gelosia, che la tratta come una bambina di porcellana, che potrebbe spezzarsi da un momento all'altro. BAVARIAN WITH BLUEBERRIES AND MORE

Two words for the preparation of raspberry sauce. In a small saucepan mix the raspberry puree and sugar over low heat. Stir and bring the mixture to 70C, removing any scum that forms on the surface. Cool the sauce quickly, transferring it to soak in a bowl in another bowl with ice, then serve it as a bed for the Bavarian.


BAVARIAN CREAM WITH AND BlackBerries

Blueberries Ingredients:

Inglese custard
7 g gelatin sheets
250 ml whipped cream
fresh blueberries
fresh blackberries

Ingredients for the English custard:

1 vanilla pod
500 ml milk
125 g sugar
6 egg yolks
90 ml heavy cream


This is a basic Bavarese cream recipe. Remember it needs several hours chilling time.
Begin by splitting the vanilla pod lengthways and using the end of a teaspoon to scoop out the seeds. Then place the pod and seeds in a small saucepan along with the milk. Place the pan over a gentle heat and bring it just below simmering point.
While the milk is heating, whisk the egg yolks together with sugar in a bowl. Next remove the vanilla pod from the milk. Then whisking the egg mixture all the time, gradually pour the hot milk into the bowl. When it's all in, return the whole lot back to the pan. Cook on a gentle heat as you continue whisking until custard is thick and smooth, which will happen when it reaches simmering point. Don't overheat. The English custard is ready. Just add the heavy cream.
Soak the gelatin sheets in 3 tbs boiling water until it is completely dissolved. Transfer the gelatin to the hot custard, mix well then chill it well. When the mixture is thick and smooth finally fold in the whipped cream. Transfer the mixture to some molds and chill them in the fridge for several hours. Come time to unmold it, dip the mold into hot water for a Few seconds and invert it onto a serving dish. Garnish with blackberries and blueberries.
